Happy Tuesday to you!
While I was at the Penn Relays, I surveyed the stadium. I gazed upon thousands of people representing various cities, regions, countries, and continents. I smiled at the flags waving above the stadium and throughout the rows. My heart swelled with joy as people demonstrated pride for their countries. It was a beautiful sight to see. Yet, what's even more beautiful was the camaraderie shared between people of varying backgrounds and life experiences. Everyone was there for the love of track & field. As a result, people who never met before (and most likely will never meet again) conversed like longtime friends. Men and women high-fived and laughed together. A young child even bought cotton candy and offered me some (how could I say no?). At one point, the entire stadium broke into the wave for at least 20 minutes. Even as people departed, kind words were exchanged. We were a unified group. Let me tell you, the unity in the stadium was an incredible experience.
I wish that all of us throughout the world would really love each other. I wish that we would care for one another without expectations or demands. I wish that we would demonstrate our love for each other through respect. I wish that we all would be unified in love and righteousness. What a world that would be! Thanks be to God! We are not without hope. Things will not always remain as they are presently. A brighter future is certain. As a Christian, I know that the kingdom of my Lord and Savior will be one in which people of every nation and tongue will join together in peace and love for each other and for God.
Until that day comes, I will savor moments like the one I experienced during the Penn Relays.
