Pride is the elevation killer.
If you’ve never had a chance to read the Bible or receive sound advice on the matter, this post is for you. It’s also a refresher course for those of us who are leaders and for those of us who have supervisors, managers, and the like. If you are ambitious and you obtain ecstasy from success, this is a lesson you must learn quickly. There will be people who cross your path that will undermine your intelligence. They will judge you with no desire to get to know you. Some will be more knowledgeable than you. Others who underestimate your value will be foolish, unlearned individuals.
Be sure to know your worth prior to engaging people of this kind. If you are uncertain about your identity, your value, and your purpose: start the journey of self-discovery as soon as possible. Not knowing oneself makes it hard not to react when you deal with arrogant and ignorant people. On the other hand, self awareness and self-esteem makes it easier to go unaffected by unkind and illogical statements made by people against you.
Pride is an elevation killer because it is the quality that makes you react to foolishness in an immature manner. Pride will have you ready to retaliate when your best interest calls you to be still and strategize effectively. Remaining humble and meek does not require you to be weak and a pushover. However, that’s another topic for another post. Acting out of pride is weakness. When the foolish underestimate you, your words make them no wiser. Rather, your actions, your humility, and God’s will remains your greatest defense.
One of the most important lessons you will ever learn is that promotion comes from God. In God’s timing, the wicked fall and the proud become desolate. In God’s timing, the righteous and the meek become exalted. Maintain the right posture and give no unnecessary attention to those present and coming distractions.
